Indian TV star Pratyusha Banerjee died on April 1 after tragically taking her own life. She was 24 years old. The actress was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai where she was pronounced dead, according to Bollywood Life.

Telly Chakkar reports that she was found hanging in her home on the morning of April 1.

The Bollywood Life report details the difficulties that Banerjee was having in her private life. The report specifically mentions her relationship with her fiancee, Rahul Raj Singh. He’s also a prominent actor and the couple were said to be something of a power couple in the Indian media to the extent that they were featured in a TV show named Power Couple.

The Times of India reported in December 2015 that Banerjee and Singh were due to marry at some point in 2016. He told the Times at that point:

"After staying together for so long in the show, I have come to the conclusion that we can spend our lives together. Our relationship has defied the age-old saying that opposites attract as we are alike in all aspects.

Since we are so similar, there is no scope for fight. What connects us on a deeper level is that we read each other’s thoughts.

The Times of India reported in December 2015 that Banerjee and Singh were due to marry at some point in 2016.

2. She Had Been Absent on Social Media Since November 2015

She had been inactive on her Twitter account since November 2015 when she posted a message of support in the wake of the Paris Terrorist Attacks. Prior to that, she had been a regular tweeter.

In addition to her role in Balika Vadhu, Banerjee was known for her appearance in the reality show Bigg Boss 7.

One of her co-stars from Balika Vadhu, Sidharth Shukla, told Bollywood Life, “I also just heard the news and I am shocked. This is indeed very sad and depressing.”

A separate Bollywood Life article detailed the slew of celebrities who went to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital to pay their respects to Banerjee.

Fellow actress Kamya Punjabi confirmed Banerjee’s passing to DNA India and said, “I am not in the right frame of mind.” Since leaving Balika Vadhu in 2013, she has worked mainly in reality TV, according to her IMDb page. One of her few acting roles in recent years was in the crime saga Savdhaan India in 2014.

Banerjee was born in August 1992 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. Her birthday party in 2015 attracted much media attention. It was thrown for her by her fiance. The Daily Bhaskar wrote in their report on the event, “Last night, beautiful actress Pratyusha Banerjee celebrated her birthday with her close pals. The actress was spotted with her alleged boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh who left no stone unturned to make the party special.” Later, Singh was accused of not paying for the party in full.
